Overall, though, this book compelled me in a way that Derting's previous work did not, and the world is fascinating. I was just so in love with the concept because I'm a language person Spanish major and I've dabbled in Italian, German, and French so I was thrilled to see a story where this girl can understand any language. Then you can start reading Kindle books on your smartphone, tablet, or computer - no Kindle device required. That said, the rest of the book is so flipping good that I quickly forget about that fact.

This had so much potential. If a lower-class person even looks up when such languages are spoken they are subject to execution. The one thing I did really love about her was her love for her sister, Angelina.
This adds a flair to the telling, and renders the two characters with very distinctive, different voices. Even though she wasn't physically strong, she managed to do so many good things that uplifted and amazed everyone. The characters are as shallow as the plot, in particular the heroine Charlie tbe the first designated love interest Max there are at least 3 men in the story who I thought could be potential love interests because they are constantly described by way of their handsome looks and enticing aura by Charlie.
It totally changed my view of her. They weren't really in the story enough for me to form an attachment to them. Other than that, they were pretty much non-existent until the very end.
